Everybody wants to find solutions to address the problems facing our young people; everybody wants affordable housing and jobs that pay well; everybody wants to be sure our infrastructure keeps pace with our needs; everyone wants Juneau to be a Capital City that would make the whole State proud.
These priorities don’t make us unique. What will make Juneau special is our approach. We must demonstrate an eagerness to really listen to one another, to see what is important to others, and to find creative ways to incorporate what matters most to different stakeholders into the final outcome.
Juneau already has a solid mix of Assembly Members who are committed to development and to protecting our resources. Especially with the projected budget deficit in 2011 and 2012, we cannot afford to overlook any of our options. We need to dedicate ourselves to investing the time to find solutions that incorporate the best of everyone's ideas and has the determination to get things done in a way where we can all win.
